Event: The D R Horton 1000

Location: D R Horton Corporate Headquarters, Colorado (Major Home Builder)

Client: D R Horton

Client Objectives

Create a fun event with a racing theme to motivate sales staff to set and commit to increased home sales goals.

Skyline Production Challenges

  • The client wanted each person on the sales team to smash a large watermelon while stating his or her sales goals. Watermelon pulp was sure to go everywhere!
  • The CEO wanted to arrive at the event driving a souped-up Indie car, and a site that offered a curve sharp enough to challenge a professional driver.

Skyline Solutions

  • Skyline created “racing jumpsuits” that protected clothing and provided protective goggles. Watermelons were stacked on bales of hay to absorb any “misses” from the smashing mallets.
  • With the permission of the client, we used a go-kart rather than an Indie car, and the CEO’s driving was flawless. Later, members of the sales team had a chance to drive the go-kart around a pre-set course.

In addition to Event Design, Skyline also provided:

  • Show script
  • Technical production including big screen video, sound
  • Collage of racing clips from movies and stock footage
  • Costumed actors cast as race car drivers
  • Set design
  • Catering

Results

The event was a smashing success! The sales team had a raucous good time and all stunts were conducted safely.
